An Interesting Officer's WW1 R.N.A.S., R.F.C, & R.A.F. Post War O.B.E. Medal Group awarded to Lieutenant J. N. Hill

John Noel Hill was born on the 24th December 1887 at St.Pancras, London.

He was employed as a telphone engineer prior to joining the the ranks of the Royal Naval Air Service on the 16th September 1915, where he served at the landbase H.M.S. President II through to the 24th March 1916. C.P.O. 2nd Class Hill transfered to the Royal Flying Corps on the 24th March 1917 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) - London Gazette 27th March 1917 refers.

On the 14th September 1918, having already become the Royal Air Force, 2nd Lieutenant Hill transfered from the M.E. Balloon Repair Section, to the 53 B Section, Palestine Brigade 21 Balloon Company), and on the 27th November 1918 he transferd to Port Said as a Lieutenant, and then transfered to the unemployment list on the 10th January 1919.

Post War, Hill returned to working for the General Post Office, and was made and Officer of the Order of the British Empire, Civil list (O.B.E.) for his work there - London Gazette 1st January 1948. The 1939 Census shows Hill as employed as a manager with the South East Area Telcomunications G.P.O.

The medals were mounted in a glazed frame, but we have removed and remounted them for display, sold with copied research, and are as follows -

Condition, very slight marks from sticky tape on the reverse of the O.B.E. & B.W.M., otherwise very fine and better
