An India General Service Medal 1895-1908, Clasp, Relief of Chitral 1895, & British War Medal awarded to Subadar Hari Chand Thakur, 3rd Queen Alexandra's Own Gurkha Rifles.

Hari Chand Thakur enlisted in 1894, and according to the Indian Army List 1919, was entitled to the India General Service Medal 1895-1908 & Clasp, Tibet Medal and the 1914/15 Star Trio (the Tibet, Star & VIctory medals missing). He was promoted Jemadar in 1913 and Subadar in 1915.

The 2nd Battalion, 3rd Gurkha Rifles was raised in 1891 and was one of the two Gurkha Battalions to take part in the Relief of Chitral. Other than providing a small detachment to support the Waziristan operations 1901-1902, it was next on active service during the Great War. Rifleman Kulbir Thapa Magar, a comrade of Thakur, became the first Gurkha soldier to be awarded a Victoria Cross at Fauquissart in 1915.
