John George Joyce was born on the 3rd June, 1879, at Battersea, South London. He was employed as a cellarman before joing the Army during 1916.
He disembarked France on the 31st December 1916 with the 9th Battalion (service number 6862), and was killed in action on the 3rd May, 1917, whilst attacking Cavalry Farm, during the 3rd Battle of Scarpe (service number 393109 - both numbers confirmed on his MIC).
Pte Joyce has no known grave and is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
