A WW1 Casualty ‘Killed in Action’ 1914/15 Star Medal Trio to 18554 Pte H. Hewitt, 13th Battalion, The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment).

Henry Hewitt was born during 1896 at Maryhill, Lanarkshire. He joined the ranks of the Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) and disembarked France with the 13th Battalion on the 4th September 1915.

Pte Hewitt was serving with “C” Company in the front line trenches when, on the 13th September 1915, he and another soldier were killed in action during a German mortar and field gun attack on the line. Seven other rank were also wounded during the same attack - the Battalion War Diary refers.

Henry Hewitt is buried in the Fosse No.7 Military Cemetery (Quality Street), Mazingarbe, Nr Bethume.
