Andrew Donley was born in 1894 and the address on his Pension Index Card is listed as 146 Renfrew Street, Garnehill, Glasgow.

He enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery as a Trumpeter on 6th December, 1911, serving with the 262nd Brigade, R.F.A. He was discharged 23rd May, 1919, due to having contracting Malaria whilst on active service and is entitled to wear S.W.B. No. B223508
